“Throughout the course I felt it challenging as most of the students had some technical insight and I felt like a cavewoman. “
1. Tell me a story about an interesting experience/ day at the developers.institute.
I would have to say that one of the most memorable experiences at DI is when Tel Aviv as affected by Rocket Attacks in the vicinity. The administrators reacted as fast as they could to make sure everyone was safe and even offered the facility as a shelter for those who felt unsafe in their own homes. The following days were also challenging in finding temporary instructors but as resourceful as they are, we were taught by more advanced students who not only did an extraordinary job teaching us but gained more confidence in themselves.
2. How did you end up wanting to learn to code?
At the time, I no longer felt challenged in an operational role that was very manual. My background is theoretical, Business/Politics, and had never acquired technical skills or experience so in learning to code I was hoping it would provide some direction. In every role, I’m always looking to make things more efficient and I definitely secured the confidence and competence to pursue my goals.
3. What have you enjoyed about the course?
In the course I was most amazed by learning the tiniest of details that made programs work in our day-to-day, for instance For Loops!
4. What was your most challenging moment during the course and what did it feel like when you got over the hurdle?
Throughout the course I felt it challenging as most of the students had some technical insight and I felt like a cavewoman. Luckily my awesome and patient instructor used all the props available to help me understand.
5. What are your doing now ?
Now I’m leading a team at Payoneer, still in an operational (mostly non-technical) function, but have been given the freedom to develop whatever products needed to take it to the next level.
